APPK gravity ceiling access panel
The APPK provides access to installations located above plasterboard suspended ceilings. It features a fully removable door with 12.5 mm plasterboard in its standard version and a gravity opening system, leaving the access opening clear during inspection and maintenance.
What installations is it suitable for?
For accessing HVAC, electrical, plumbing, telecommunications, ductwork, and other technical equipment located above the suspended ceiling.
What to choose before buying
- Installation: ceiling model.
- Board thickness: the standard version of this product is 12.5 mm. Thicknesses of 15, 18, and 25 mm are made to order. Check which thickness corresponds to your installation.
- Size: select the panel dimensions and check the mounting opening before cutting.
- Opening: gravity-operated, with a fully removable door.
Installation opening size
Add 5 mm to the width and 5 mm to the height of the selected size to prepare the installation opening.
For example, for a 40 × 40 cm panel, the opening must measure 40.5 × 40.5 cm. The additional 5 mm applies to each total dimension, not to each side.
Do you need a special size or thickness?
For special dimensions or 15, 18, or 25 mm board, request a custom APPK.
Description and applications
Description and applications
The APPK access panel is specifically designed for installation in plasterboard suspended ceilings.
It features an aluminium frame and a fully removable door with a 12.5 mm plasterboard panel, ready to receive the final finish and blend discreetly into the ceiling.
Its gravity-operated opening system allows the door to be released and removed, leaving the access opening completely unobstructed. This feature facilitates inspection, repair, and maintenance operations when a hinged door could restrict access.
It is recommended for electrical, HVAC, plumbing, telecommunications, ductwork, and technical equipment installations in homes, offices, commercial premises, and renovation projects.
Installation and safety
Installation and safety
Before cutting, check the product's external dimensions, the thickness of the panel, the final position of the access panel, the absence of concealed installations, and the space required to remove the door.
Carefully insert the frame into the opening and use suitable fasteners for the drywall system. Distribute the fasteners evenly to prevent warping.
During filling and painting work, protect the opening system. Prevent filler, paint, or debris from coming into contact with moving parts.
Once the finish is completely dry, perform several tests to open, remove, replace, and close the panel.
To open the access panel, carefully operate the system, hold the door before fully releasing it, and lower it in a controlled manner before removing it from the frame.
Important: always hold the door while opening it, do not stand directly beneath it while removing it, and check that it is properly secured after each closing.
Do not use the door to support loads or hang objects from the access panel.
